HyperEVM on Hyperliquid

HyperEVM is Hyperliquid's general-purpose smart contract layer — Ethereum-compatible by design, so Solidity developers keep the tools, languages and mental models they already know. Critically, it is not a separate chain: HyperEVM and HyperCore are two execution environments secured by the same HyperBFT consensus, sharing a single state machine.

This unified architecture unlocks capabilities no L2 or rollup can match. Smart contracts can atomically read live HyperCore state — oracle prices, order book depth, positions, balances — and write back into it within a single block. No external oracle, no bridge, no cross-chain message queue, and therefore none of the failure modes those introduce.

To serve different workloads, HyperEVM runs a dual-block system: small blocks (2M gas, produced roughly every 2 seconds) for fast trades and near-instant confirmations, and big blocks (30M gas, roughly once per minute) for heavy contract deployments that would otherwise congest the network. Permissionless builders ship lending markets, vaults, options venues and structured products that plug straight into the native CLOB's liquidity rather than bootstrapping their own.
